Two Minor Research Projects completed in the recent past.

1. Minor Research Grant titled “Mapping Violence, Hunger, Care Networks And Feminist Solidarities: Narratives Of Precarious Women From Metro And Non-Metro Locations” under Faculty Research Programme (FRP) of the Institute of Eminence (IoE), University of Delhi. Grant Value: Rs. 3,40,000. (PI – Professor Anindita Datta, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. Co- PI Dr Swagata Basu)  (2020)
2. Minor Research Grant titled “Women, Public Spaces And Urban Design: Gendered Cartographies And Corporealities In Pre-Colonial To Post Colonial Cities”  under Faculty Research Programme (FRP) of the Institute of Eminence (IoE), University of Delhi. The Department of Geography has been a nodal outreach centre of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Dehradun, since 2016.

The department has successfully conducted the following courses in collaboration with IIRS, Dehradun.

1.    18th IIRS Outreach Programme on Basics of GIS, Remote Sensing and GNSS, 2016.

2.   19th IIRS Outreach Programme on Remote Sensing and GIS Application on Carbon Forestry, 2017.

3.    20th IIRS Outreach Programme on Microwave Radar Remote Sensing and its Application, 2017.

4.    45th IIRS Outreach on RS and GIS in Watershed Management, 2019.

5.   106th Outreach Programme on Application of Remote Sensing and GIS Technology, September 2022.

The department is collaborating with Netra Institute of Geoinformatics Management and Technology Foundation, Meerut.

• International-

Professor Swagata Basu is a Team Member of the Delhi Research Team led by Professor Anindita Datta, HOD, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, as part of a collaborative funded project, Urbanization, Gender, and the Global South: a transformative knowledge network (GenUrb) hosted at York University, Toronto, ON, Canada.  (2020 – till date)

• National Seminar

The Department hosted a National Seminar titled “Women, Sustainable Development and Technical Terminology”, sponsored by the Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology, Ministry of Education, Government of India, on 10-11th August 2023.

Inaugural Session of the National Seminar sponsored by CSTT, MoE, New Delhi.

• Seminar

A Seminar on the Application of Geoinformatics Technology was organised in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell, SSV College, Hapur along with external collaborators, Department of Geography, RGPG Girls College, Meerut and Netra Institute of Geoinformatics and Management Technologies Foundation, Meerut on 01.12.2021.

• MoUs - The department has signed MoUs with the Departments of Geography of Meerut College Meerut, MMH College Ghaziabad, NREC College, Khurja and KMGPGC, Badalpur, for academic collaboration of the nature of jointly organising field trips, research projects, value-added courses and resource sharing.

Activities :

Recent Field Trips organized for PG Geography students include

• Trip to Dehradun, Mussoorie and Cloud’s End in May 2018.

• Trip to Jageshwar and Bageshwar, Uttrakhand, November,2018

• Trip to Kedarnath, November 2019.

• Trip to Chopta, Uttrakhand, December 2021

1. Book Reading Club - The Department has a Book Reading Club where reading sessions are held on Saturday afternoons. This club is managed by the final year students of MA Geography.
2. Departmental Workshop Series - The following workshops have been organised at the department as a part of collaborative research programmes.

• Online Research Workshop on “Conducting Interviews and Focus Group Discussions: Feminist Perspectives ” organised on 18.06.21.

• Online Research Workshop on “Doing Feminist Research: Interview Guides and Interviews” organised on 28.07.21

3. Departmental Lecture Series- The department has been organising lectures delivered by scholars for post-graduate students.
