The Star College Scheme was initiated by DBT in 2008 to support colleges and universities offering undergraduate education to improve science teaching across the country. This Scheme was launched for improving critical thinking and encouraging ‘hands on’ experimental science at undergraduate level in basic science subjects. On a larger perspective, the scheme was initiated envisioning that it shall encourage more students to take up higher education in science.
SSV College, Hapur have been selected under the DBT Star College Scheme in the 6th Task force meeting held in November 2019.Under the star college scheme, a large number of programs are being conducted for the students of undergraduate science classes and faculty as well. For the first time ever in college, educational tours have been arranged for the UG students to the academic and research institutes like IGMRI Hapur, Mother Dairy Delhi, Science Centre, Delhi, Nehru Planetarium, Garjia, Hastinapur wild life century, IGIB Delhi etc. Hands-on training program have come in routine. Projects, Guest lectures, seminars and webinars are also being carried out at routine interval by the participating departments.
